A spooktacular workshop for students held in the drama studios at the Keay Theatre, was a scream for all those who took part.

Around 30 students from Cornwall College, Penrice, Brannel and other local schools were involved in the one off workshop organised by Miracle Theatre.

Acting Student Ty Hooper said that they enjoyed taking part in the improvisation games where they got to became different characters;

“We were given spooky poems from which we had to create small pieces of theatre in small groups. We also did some sound scape activities; this involved people sitting in the middle of the room and the others had to create a scary atmosphere using only their voices”

Managing Director of Miracle Theatre, Annie Ukleja commented on what a “great day” the Halloween workshop was;

“The workshop was made possible with support from the Tuppenny Fund via Cornwall Community Foundation and we had young people from all over the St Austell area”

She continued “It was fantastic to see the young people aged 11 through to 19 working together so well on all the fun activities we threw at them.”

Head of St Austell Campus, Chris Taylor said how “delighted” he was that the workshop took place in the studios;

“We’ve got some fantastic facilities at the College and it’s wonderful to see them being used by the community. St Austell has an abundance of local artistic talent and we’re keen to encourage the younger generation in the area to take part in these opportunities.”

Annie added; “The workshop also aided with Zombie walks that were hosted by Cornwall College acting students on Halloween. If anyone else from the area would like to get involved in future opportunities, they should get in touch with us at Miracle. Watch this space, there will be more to come!”
