Plymouth College of Art and Millfields Community Development Trust have come together to create a unique and visionary company to provide cut, make and trim services to the fashion industry. Makers HQ is a new joint venture with a strong focus on achieving ethical, British manufacture.  

As the previous home of the Jaeger factory, Plymouth has a heritage in fashion and textile manufacture that we wish to celebrate and evolve. We want to reignite the fashion manufacturing sector within the area and reimagine how a fashion factory can drive economic and community regeneration.

Makers HQ is an exciting opportunity to bring together academic institutions, businesses, designers, makers and the community to creative a sustainable and innovative business model. We want to drive regeneration through job creation, graduate retention, innovation in fashion manufacture and training opportunities situated at the heart of the community.    

Makers HQ is seeking to appoint an individual with relevant industry experience as a Studio Manager to establish the sampling unit and training facility. You will be the driving force behind the company so will have previous experience of working with fashion brands and an excellent understanding of the requirements for a successful business start up. You will have a working knowledge of industrial machines and pattern cutting in order to direct the team effectively. You will be passionate about supporting British manufacture and creating progression opportunities within the fashion industry through high-quality training provision. Experience of working with education partners will be an advantage, as will an understanding of the South West context.
