The Generation STEM research project appeal - Work Placement Opportunities

20 Feb 2018

We invite you to take part in Generation STEM – an exciting new programme from CSW Enterprise designed to expose young people to the range of careers related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, and better prepare them for the world of work.

Do you ever ask yourself these questions?

- Where are all the talented young people these days?

- Why do junior employees seem so unprepared for the workplace?

- What more could we do to connect with local schools?

- How can we raise our recruitment profile amongst young people?

If so, then you are not alone. Many employers face significant challenges in recruiting the right young people and preparing them for the demands of the modern day workplace. Recent findings show that show that 43% of vacancies in STEM roles are hard to fill due to a shortage of skilled applicants[1].

Offering work experience is one of the most effective ways for you to attract young people into your organisation and expose you to potential future employees. Research shows that many employers who offer work experience go on to offer future employment opportunities to those they host on a placement[2] and that employees recruited following work experience perform more effectively, require less training, and demonstrate a greater ability to work in teams than those recruited through other channels[3]

Will you give a local young person the chance to experience your workplace first hand?

CSW Enterprise invites you to take part in Generation STEM by hosting a local young person (aged 14-15) on a high-quality, structured 5-day work placement in spring or summer 2018.

What support can I expect from CSW?

CSW Enterprise have been supporting employers like you to offer work experience for over 20 years, so we understand the questions that often arise and know how to answer them. Our experienced team will provide you with all the advice, tools and guidance you will need to ensure the placement is safe and appropriate. A designated coordinator will work with you throughout the whole process to maximise the benefits for your organisation and the young person on placement.

How do I get involved? Where can I find out more?
