DCBC membership extended to Charities

12 Sep 2016

Earlier this year DCBC became involved with delivering a more efficient Employer Sponsored Volunteering (ESV) framework, in order to benefit employers and charities through a skills exchange.

DCBC are pleased to announce they are now formally working with Young Enterprise Devon & Cornwall, who are the second Charity to join our growing network (DCBC already supports The Dame Hannah Rogers Trust).

Young Enterprise is the UK’s leading charity that empowers young people to harness their personal and business skills.

Marian Weston, Young Enterprise Manager for Devon said: ‘We are delighted to join the DCBC network. Young Enterprise offers a wide range of programmes for 4-25 year olds from one day Masterclasses to year long projects. The benefits for businesses is that by sharing their skills/expertise with students, they are helping shape the future workforce while inspiring and motivating employees’ professional development. Through supporting enterprise programmes, organisations deliver against their corporate social responsibility as well as achieving commercial benefits for their business.’

Ben Rhodes, Chief Executive, Devon and Cornwall Business Council said: “ DCBC currently does a lot of work around connecting businesses with colleges and supporting enterprise within education. We are delighted to start working with Young Enterprise, to further inspire the next generation into developing their skills and knowledge.

Through supporting ESV, DCBC is now working on linking the business community to the third sector, as we believe that these links can help to share expertise and knowledge, in order to help overcome some of the common challenges they both share.

Young Enterprise’s membership will undoubtedly add further value and knowledge for our members with the opportunity to network at the same events, and hopefully, create future opportunities for working together.
