CCB celebrates Qualsafe accreditation

8 Aug 2017

Staff at CCB are celebrating their recent Qualsafe accreditation, meaning that they can now offer an even broader range of Health & Safety qualifications, to best meet the needs of businesses and individuals across the South West.

Qualsafe is one of the largest Ofqual recognised awarding organisations in the UK, and through training organisations like Cornwall College Business, offers qualifications such as Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace, Principles of Manual Handling and Safe Moving and Handling.

With all employers facing a legal obligation to ‘ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work’ of all their employees as a result of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, plus employees having rights and responsibilities for their own wellbeing as well as that of their colleagues, it is incredibly important to stay up-to-date with the latest legislation and make sure that you are working in a safe and healthy environment.

According to HSE (Health and Safety Executive), it is estimated that in Great Britain in 2015 to 2016, 1.3 million working people were suffering from a work-related illness, and in 2014 to 2015 the estimated cost of injuries and ill health from current working conditions was £14.1 billion.

CMIOSH QTLS trainer at CCB, Chris Bate, said: “The Qualsafe qualifications are ideal for employees who wish to raise awareness of health and safety in their workplace, to better understand the role that everyone plays in maintaining a safe working environment, and to learn how to identify and manage risks effectively”.
