The August PMG Summer Speical Newsletter has Landed

4 Aug 2017

The August edition of the PMG newsletter is now available. In particular, we’d like to draw your attention to the following items:

  • A variety of news stories including one from the Centre for Cities that suggests Plymouth is predicted to fare slightly better than most UK cities, regardless of Brexit outcome (pages 2-4)

  • It’s open season for entering award competitions – everything from the highly prestigious Queen’s Awards for Enterprise to the Regional ‘Insider Made in the South West Awards 2017’ (ps 5 & 6)

  • Achieving Turnaround at Artemis Optical – a full page feature on one of our Network members (p 9)

  • July was a really busy month for PMG meetings – to get a flavour of what we’ve been up to, turn to page 10;

  • A palpable shift in the intensity of funding competitions organised by the Government-funded body Innovate UK – listed on pages 13 & 14;

  • Under the heading ‘Talent retention & recruitment’ there are requests from UTC Plymouth to support their Open Day in October and, more pressingly, the need to support a visiting troop of Hungarian student engineers with a particular interest in CNC machines – can you help? See ps 16-19.

  • The usual raft of events and courses upcoming over forthcoming months, including, in September, a fully funded innovation coaching session run by Enterprise Europe Network & Innovate UK at The Innovation Centre, University of Exeter Campus, Exeter. By the way, talking about a raft of events, checkout the IMechE cardboard boat race in September down on the Barbican (ps 20 – 25);

  • Plus, lots of newsletters & journals to read on the beach or by the pool including ‘The ultimate 3,500-word guide in plain English to understand Blockchain’ – how can you resist? (ps 26-28).
