Details:

ABB, a global leader in power and automation technologies, is bringing its latest product innovations to Plymouth and is inviting local companies to get involved. The ‘ABB Innovation and Technology Day’ will be run in association with City College Plymouth and APDS Limited, ABB’s Authorised Value Provider for the South West. This free, one-day event will provide local industry with an opportunity to get up close and personal with the latest technologies set to revolutionise UK manufacturing; including Virtual Reality and Robotics.

The event, which takes place on Wednesday 22 November at City College’s new Regional Centre of Excellence for STEM, will also include seminars presented by leading experts from ABB UK and break-out sessions giving attendees the chance to take part in demonstrations, network and meet students and apprentices from the College.

Phil Davies, Principal and Chief Executive of City College Plymouth said, “As the region’s premier provider of technical and professional education, we understand the importance of bringing together new technologies with those people who are vital to sustaining the future of industry in the UK. Hosting an event like this is a great opportunity not only for local businesses, but also for our students, who will have the chance to experience the latest innovations that will impact our future workforce.”

Kris England, ABB’s Area Sales Manager for the South West, explains: “ABB understands the importance of bringing the technologies people are reading about to life and helping them understand that it is not all science fiction; we are providing real solutions accessible to everyone. An event like this means people have access to advice from experts, hands-on demonstrations and an opportunity to step back and consider how it can all be of benefit to their businesses.”

Steve Gerry, Secretary to the Plymouth Manufacturing Group added, “ABB’s Innovation and Technology Day in association their South West Partner, APDS looks like being a great opportunity to catch up on all that is new in AR/VR; robotics and motor control innovations. Hosted appropriately enough by City College in their impressive, all-new STEM Centre. For those who can’t afford to give up a whole day, why not think about sharing it 50:50 with a colleague?”
